In Sony's defence I'd have to say they were in a unique position that required them to layout future plans. Now that things are moving forward though they need to tighten up and not spill the beans 4 years early trying to hype games our children will be playing in the distant future.

You know Sega Net was out years before XBL... Sony and Nintendo both knew online gaming was coming and they choose to ignore it. Sony couldn't conceive of universal in game messaging on its own they had to copy it 19 MONTHS after launch. Almost 1/3 of your consoles life cycle is gone and you STILL don't have basic features.

Currently on the PS3 you can only voice chat with people playing the same game as you and in the same "game" or "lobby" as you. You can't private chat with someone playing the same game or playing another game as you can on XBL.
You also can't respond to invites sent to you from a friend playing another ga...
